Booking Dollar through Odovera

Dollar is one of the rental suppliers we can place a reservation with. Odovera is an independent travel agency — we are not Dollar.

This is not the Dollar website

Odovera is an independent travel agency. We are not Dollar, we are not owned by Dollar, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way officially connected to Dollar. We do not speak for Dollar and we cannot make decisions on their behalf.

This page exists for one reason: to tell you that Dollar is one of the rental suppliers Odovera can place a reservation with, and what that is like. Everything on it is written by us, not by Dollar.

If you meant to reach Dollar’s own website, go to dollar.com directly. Dollar and any related names and logos are trademarks of their owner and are used here only to identify the supplier.

About the supplier

What Dollar is

Dollar is a value-focused US car rental brand with a leisure-oriented footprint concentrated around airports.

  • Value pricing as the main proposition
  • Airport-weighted network, strongest in leisure destinations
  • Dollar Express membership for faster handling at participating locations
  • Frequently among the lower-priced options quoted in high-volume leisure markets

Who it usually suits

Price-led leisure trips, particularly in high-volume holiday markets such as Florida, Nevada and Arizona.

This description is Odovera’s own general summary of a publicly known brand, written to help you choose. It is not supplied, reviewed or approved by Dollar, and it is not a statement of that company’s current policies, which they set and change themselves.

What we add on top of a Dollar booking

  • A real comparison. We quote Dollar against the other suppliers available on your dates, rather than assuming it wins
  • The all-in total in writing, with taxes, airport recovery fees and any surcharge itemised before you commit
  • The counter rules for your specific location — card acceptance, deposit, identification, age restrictions — confirmed rather than guessed
  • One named agent who owns the booking and picks up the phone if the counter says no

What we cannot do about Dollar

  • Set or change Dollar’s rates, policies or terms
  • Overrule a decision made at a Dollar counter
  • Guarantee a specific make, model or feature
  • Guarantee your card, licence or age will be accepted
  • Administer, credit or redeem Dollar loyalty accounts — that is between you and them
  • Handle a claim, damage assessment or post-rental charge on their behalf
Before you book any supplier

The three things that decide whether you drive away

The card

Whether a credit or debit card in the main driver’s name is accepted, and what extra proof comes with it, is set by the supplier and the individual location. We confirm it for your booking in writing.

Card and debit rules

The deposit

The authorisation hold varies by supplier, location, class and payment method, and its release is controlled by your bank rather than by anyone else. We tell you the expected amount up front.

Deposits and holds

The driver

Age, licence history and who else will drive all change what you can rent and what it costs. Under-25 surcharges belong in the quote, not at the counter.

Drivers under 25

The process

How a Dollar booking goes through us

Nothing is reserved, and no card details are taken, until you have a written total in front of you and you say yes to it.

1

Tell us the trip

Dates, times, city or airport, people and bags — plus anything non-standard: a second driver, a one-way, a debit card, a driver under 25.

2

We check availability

An agent confirms what Dollar actually has at your location on your dates, in the class you want, and what the all-in total comes to.

3

You get it in writing

Base rate, taxes, airport and concession fees, any surcharge and our fee if one applies — itemised, with the deposit and card rules for that counter.

4

You approve, we book

We place the reservation and send you Dollar’s own confirmation number once the reservation is in place. You sign the rental agreement with them at the counter.

If Dollar is not the right answer, we will say so. Availability, deposit rules and card policy differ by location, and there are trips where another supplier — or booking directly with Dollar on a corporate or loyalty rate — genuinely serves you better. An agent will tell you that rather than quoting around it.

Questions

Booking Dollar through an agency — answered

The things travellers ask before letting anyone other than the rental company make their reservation.

Is Odovera part of Dollar?

No. Odovera is an independent travel agency, a brand of Affluence Hospitality LLC. We are not Dollar, we are not owned by Dollar, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Dollar. This page is written by us, not by them. If you meant to reach Dollar’s own website, go to dollar.com directly.

If I book through you, am I actually getting a Dollar car?

Yes — the reservation is placed with Dollar in your name, and you collect the car from Dollar at the location on your confirmation. We are the agency that arranges it; they are the company that supplies the vehicle and that you sign the rental agreement with.

Will my booking actually show up in Dollar’s system?

It should, and you can check. Once the reservation is placed we send you Dollar’s own confirmation number, not just an Odovera reference. That number exists in their system, in your name, and you are welcome to verify it with Dollar directly before you travel. A reservation you cannot verify is not one you should rely on — from us or from anyone.

Does booking Dollar through Odovera cost more than booking on dollar.com?

Usually not. On most bookings the supplier pays us a commission out of the rate you were going to pay anyway, so the amount you pay is the same. Where a service fee applies instead, it is shown as its own line on your quote before you approve anything.

There are cases where going direct wins — a corporate rate, loyalty status, or a members-only promotion we cannot access. Where we can see that, we say so rather than quoting around it.

Do you have a special or discounted rate with Dollar?

We do not advertise exclusive or secret rates, because claiming one you cannot produce is exactly the kind of promise that makes travellers distrust agencies. What we offer is the comparison and the paperwork: several suppliers checked for your actual trip, the all-in total written down for each, and the counter rules confirmed before you commit.

Can I use my Dollar loyalty number, or will I earn points?

Tell your agent the membership number and we will add it to the reservation. Whether points accrue, and whether member benefits apply to a booking made through an agency, is decided by Dollar under their programme rules — not by us, and we cannot promise an outcome. If earning points matters more than the rate, booking direct is often the cleaner route, and we will tell you so.

Will I pick up at the Dollar counter or somewhere else?

At the Dollar location named on your confirmation. Airport arrangements vary — some markets use a counter in the terminal, others a consolidated rental facility reached by shuttle — and those arrangements change. Your agent confirms the current pickup instructions for your specific booking in writing before you travel rather than relying on anything printed on a website.

What is Dollar’s deposit, card or minimum age policy?

Those are set by Dollar, they differ between locations of the same brand, and they change — so we do not publish them here as though they were fixed. What we do is confirm the rules that apply to your booking, at your location, in writing before you commit: the expected security deposit, which cards are accepted and in whose name, what identification is required, and any young-driver surcharge. See our rental requirements page for how these work generally.

Whose terms apply — yours or Dollar’s?

Both, to different things. Odovera’s terms cover the booking service we provide to you. The rental agreement you sign at the Dollar counter is between you and Dollar, and it governs the vehicle, the coverage, the deposit, the fuel policy, the permitted use and every charge assessed at or after pickup. Read it before you sign it.

What happens if Dollar has no car when I arrive?

Call us from the counter, before you accept an alternative or a different rate. We will work to secure another vehicle or another supplier as quickly as we can, and where Dollar’s own terms provide for compensation or reimbursement of a reasonable alternative, we will pursue it on your behalf. To be straight about the limit: the vehicle is supplied by Dollar, and we are not liable for its non-availability.

Who do I call if something goes wrong — you or Dollar?

Us first. Your agent knows your file and what was quoted, and can escalate to Dollar on your behalf. Two limits worth knowing: at the counter, Dollar decides whether to release a car to you, and once you have signed their agreement, charges they assess afterwards — fuel, damage, tolls, penalties — are raised and resolved by them. We will advocate and chase. We cannot waive their charges.

Can I cancel a Dollar booking made through you?

Yes on free-cancellation bookings, and Dollar’s own cancellation terms govern. We do not charge a cancellation fee on a standard booking. Prepaid or promotional rates may carry a supplier penalty or be non-refundable, in which case we say so explicitly on the quote and ask you to acknowledge it before booking. You can also cancel directly with Dollar using your confirmation number — just tell us, so we stop working a booking you no longer want. Full detail on our cancellation page.

Will you tell me if Dollar is not the best option for my trip?

Yes, and that is most of the point of using us. Dollar tends to suit price-led leisure trips, particularly in high-volume holiday markets such as Florida, Nevada and Arizona. Where your trip does not look like that — different dates, a different class, a location where another supplier is stronger — an agent will say so and quote the alternative. Suppliers pay us different commission rates, and our rule is that if the one paying us less is the better answer, we quote it and tell you it is the one we recommend.

Why book Dollar through an agency at all?

Because a single-brand website can only sell you that brand. It cannot tell you that another counter at the same airport is cheaper on your dates, that its deposit is smaller, or that its rules will not work with the card you are carrying. We check the suppliers available for your trip, quote the all-in total for each, and confirm the counter rules before you commit — then you decide.

How do I know this is a real reservation and not just a quote?

By the confirmation number. A quote is an estimate and reserves nothing. A booking exists only when an agent has sent you a written all-in total, you have approved a specific option, and we have sent you Dollar’s own confirmation number. If you are holding that number, you are holding a reservation you can verify with Dollar yourself.

Trademark notice. Dollar and all related names, marks, logos and trade dress are the property of their respective owner. Odovera uses the name here solely to identify a rental supplier with whom a reservation may be placed — nominative use — and claims no right in it. No affiliation, sponsorship, partnership, agency or endorsement is claimed or implied. See our full disclaimer.

Quote it against the others first

Tell us the trip and we will price Dollar alongside the suppliers available on your dates — all-in, in writing.
